Course Outline

The IB Biology HL course covers the same core and optional topics as the SL course, but requires an additional 20 hours (60 hours in total) of laboratory work and covers additional theory work in the following topics: nucleic acids, metabolism, cell respiration and photosynthesis, plant biology, genetics and evolution, and animal physiology.

The final grade is determined in the same manner as SL but encompasses the additional theory work topics required in HL.
