Students in Mathematics 8 explore the following topics: 

• perfect squares and square roots
• percents, decimals and fractions
• ratios, rates and proportional reasoning
• multiplication and division of positive fractions and mixed numbers
• operations with positive and negative numbers
• order of operations
• linear relations
• relationships between the sides of a right triangle
• nets for 3-D objects
• surface area and volume of prisms and cylinders
• evaluate ways of representing data
