Course Outline Intensive French is an alternate way of offering the Core French program. It offers students of all abilities, who are not enrolled in immersion programs, an effective way to learn to communicate spontaneously in French. It is based on the acquisition of literacy skills, which means that students learn to listen and speak, read and write in French, in that order. Grammar is acquired naturally, through language use rather than by learning and memorizing rules. Intensive French is based on the Neurolinguistic Approach to second language learning. Using their second language, Intensive French students talk, read and write about themselves and their experiences, and are actively engaged in project-based learning. As in all French second language programs in Nova Scotia, French is the language of communication in the classroom. English versions of these documents are not available at this time.
