Course Outline Comprehensive health education encompasses six pillars of health education: Physical Activity and Nutrition Mental Health Injury Prevention Sexual Health: Reproduction/Sexuality Substance Use and Gambling Physical Health It is important to recognize that these pillars are interconnected and that no pillar is optional. Decision making skills are a fundamental component through all six pillars, and requires evidence based, developmentally appropriate information as a starting point. Additionally, the interconnectedness of individuals and the larger society is explored at length. It is important to understand that when delivering health curriculum an awareness of all cultural perspectives needs to be embedded.
